Review of the Balloonies
Theme and plot of the story
Set in a frankly bizarre world of balloon animals, Balloonies comes off as if it had been designed for small children. It’s strange in an industry where every website has a slashed-eighteen sign on it.
The symbols on each reel are soft-edged representations of charming creatures created out of balloons, set against a backdrop of the most beautiful blue sky. Instead of dropping down from the top of the screen as is typical of most slots, this trick is mirrored by the symbols, which float up from the bottom of the screen.
Despite its cartoonish appearance, this theme has little added depth. There are no characters or a setting to provide context for anything. The topic is hardly more than a pretext for a collection of dull graphics to be shown.
Graphics, sounds, and animations are all included.
The visuals for the Balloonies do absolutely nothing to improve the already mediocre feeling of mood. Pastel-colored graphics cover the whole backdrop of the slot machine. Before the designers lose up and resort to the standard ace to ten designs for the remainder of the symbols, they create a little group of balloon animals.
The animations that acompany them are barely enough to sell the floating balloon concept, let alone make it interesting. The soundtrack is a stale musical loop with reel noises that are tedious yet thematically suitable, and it is not very memorable. The sound of a balloon exploding, for example, may make winning combos vanish from the board.
Overall, this slot has a cheesy-looking front end, but the creators have at least put some consideration into how it will be played.
Gameplay
Balloonies is a straightforward five-by-three slot machine with a total of twenty paylines. It has a small oddity with regard to its Scatter symbols, as well as a conventional free spin bonus round.
There was no effort put forward to have this slot accomplish anything that would enrich the gaming experience.
Wilds, bonuses, and free spins are all included in this game.
It comes with a variety of unique symbols to make it even more interesting. The Wild symbol may be used to replace any other sign, with the exception of the Bonus and Star symbols.
The Star Symbol acts as a scatter, awarding two times the player’s stake per line for any star that appears on a reel, regardless of where it appears or in what sequence it appears.
With the Bonus Symbol, players may earn a basic free spin bonus by landing three Bonus Symbols anywhere on the reels. Hitting three Bonus Symbols will pay out twice the player’s entire stake for that particular spin, and will also trigger an additional free spin bonus.
The Free Spin Bonus starts by requiring the player to pick one of three balloons, each of which will provide between four and fourteen free spins in a random manner. The Bonus cannot be retriggered, however, it is played on reels with an increased frequency of Star symbols.
Bet sizes, return on investment (RTI), and variance
It is estimated that this game has a 96.23 percent return to player. As a general rule, we consider 96 percent to be typical, which puts Balloonies in a somewhat above-average position in this respect. This is pretty much the sole exception.
The range of bets available on the site we tested ranged from a minimum of $/£/€0.20 per spin up to a maximum of $/£/€20.00 per spin, with the lowest being $0.20 and the highest being $20.00.
As a result, the volatility of this game is on the low end of the medium spectrum, making it a poor fit for our favorite slot machine tactics and preventing us from recommending it.
Conclusion
Balloonies is a dreadful slot to look at and much worse to play, since it is really average. The return on investment (RTI) is reasonable, but the volatility is not high enough to entice us.
We would advise you to try an other game instead.
