Review of the Egyptian Coins

Theme and plot of the story

This week’s episode takes us back to the land of Ancient Egypt. Similar to a number of other NetEnt releases, the theme has a futuristic visual design, with old structures complemented with beautiful metallic technology and seemingly robotic animals that are evocative of the original Stargate film.

A colorful, highly-visual environment, and a refreshing take on a well-worn slot machine concept, this is a must-play.

Graphics, sounds, and animations are all included.

The aesthetic style of the slot, which incorporates a lot of exquisite gold filigree into its motifs, is one of proportion and proportionality. The reels are placed as if they were a part of a massive wall that is drawn as if it were viewed from below. The reels get narrower as they near the top, and you are left with the sensation of being an ant burrowing under something big and unknown.

There’s also a bird with a mirror on it.

There is some dramatic percussion to lend some oomph to the reel spins. The soundtrack is a conventional near-East tune with some dramatic percussion. It works marvellously to generate the feeling of being back in the time of huge animal-headed gods as you gaze up on the towering reels above you.

All of this is then brought to life with the great production value that NetEnt is known for bringing to these types of games. Overall, it’s a very outstanding piece of design craftsmanship.

Gameplay

Given the amount of effort that has gone into making the slot stand out graphically, the gameplay is pretty simple to understand. It is a five-reel, three-row slot featuring a gimmicky pharaoh-faced “Collect” symbol on the first reel (described in full below).

Even while the game maintains a reasonable speed, and the rapid spin option is simple and straightforward to use (simply double-click the spin button), the absence of other features may be frustrating.

Wilds, bonuses, and free spins are all included in this game.

A random number of coins between one and three will appear on the first three reels of the game after each spin. These coins will be of varying sizes, ranging from two to fifteen times the amount of the wager. If the Collect symbol appears on reel five, the player wins the sum represented by these coins for that particular spin.

The Wild sign, which is shown as a brilliantly gilded insect, may be used to replace for all other symbols on the reels, with the exception of the Scatter and Collect symbols.

To get the free spins bonus, you must get three Scatter symbols. The first thing that happens is that any pharaoh coins that are collected during the free spins are added to each of the three chests that are triggered throughout the round. During each free spin, a seal has the potential to land on reel five. When this occurs, the coin is added to the relevant chest, along with any coins that were present on the reels during the spins before it occurred.

When three seals are applied to a chest, you are awarded that chest and the game bonus is completed. Both of the other chests are deleted from the game, and you are sent back to the starting point.

Bet sizes, return on investment (RTI), and variance

The return to player for Coins of Egypt is a respectable 96.97 percent, which is excellent. This is above average and should be sufficient to earn us a few positive points in the game.

Those points, however, are jeopardized by the low volatility of Coins of Egypt, which makes it difficult to earn them. We choose slots with greater variance since they are the ones that function best with the kind of tactics that we advocate for them.

Our testing site offered wagers ranging from £/$/€0.20 per spin up to a maximum of £/$/€200 per spin, with a maximum of £/$/€200 per spin.

Conclusion

In terms of technological aspects, Coins of Egypt is similar to many other NetEnt slots in that there is nothing to complain about. The graphic style and the environment they have created are original interpretations of well-known subjects.

We were pleased with the return to player on this slot as well, and if it weren’t for the annoyingly low volatility, we would be delighted to recommend it.

Even though it is now a great position, it does not meet our expectations in terms of performance.
