Review of The Elephant King
Theme and plot of the story
IGT’s other Animal Kingdom slots, particularly their extensive “Buffalo King” brand, are focused on natural history, and Elephant King is no exception to this rule. In this episode, the action takes place in Sub-Saharan Africa during the dry season.
The ground is cracked and dry, and the acacia trees are trying to survive in the scorching heat of the day. As well, a herd of elephants is on the prowl for vegetation and water throughout the landscape, passing zebras, rhinos, and impala on their way.
Throughout the game, you’ll be on the lookout for cherished combos that are just as difficult to come by as the animals’ attempts to make a living in the domain of the elephant king are.
Graphics, sounds, and animations are all included.
Graphics intended for a larger screen (full screen on a laptop rather than mobile phone size) seem cluttered and too detailed when shown on a tiny screen. However, when enlarged to a reasonable scale, they serve as an excellent illustration of the faux spray paint technique that dominates animal-themed slot imagery.
When compared to the visuals, the animations and sound are a bit more up to date. The noises for the spin and victory are basic yet beautiful, and the animations are no exception.
In the background, there is an ambient tune that creates a relaxing atmosphere without taxing the player’s resources. Overall, it’s a respectable collection of designs.
Elephant King’s basic game consists of five reels and three rows of symbols. In addition, there is an extra horizontal reel (referred to as the Prize Disc) at the top of the screen that is used to randomize some aspects related to bonuses.
There are forty winning combinations that go from left to right.
Along with that, there are two extras to look forward to: the Free Spins Bonus and the Prize Disc feature (full details below).
There’s enough variety to keep things interesting throughout the day. In exchange for a little more volatility in the main game, we would happily swap one of these features for the other.
Wilds, bonuses, and free spins are all included in this game.
The Wild symbol may be used to replace for all other symbols on the main reels, with the exception of the Bonus sign. Wild symbols occur exclusively on the second, third, and fourth reels.
The Prize Disc, which is located at the top of the reel, rotates one place from right to left. A Bonus symbol falls on a reel (the Bonus symbol can only appear on the first, third, or fifth reels), and then that reel is given the symbol that appears on the Prize Disc above it.
Whenever a number appears on the Prize disc, the player is given that particular amount of coins as a reward (based on their chosen coin value). If the symbol is a Free Spin symbol, the player will be awarded a total of 10 free spins.
The Free Spin reels have been improved to provide higher payouts. The Extra Spin symbols have been added to the Prize Disc as well. Each time one of them appears on the Prize Disc, an additional two spins are rewarded, up to a maximum of 250 total spins granted.
Bet sizes, return on investment (RTI), and variance
The return to player for this game is 96.02 percent, which is right on the money when compared to the industry average of about 96 percent.
There was a wide range of bets available on the site we tested, ranging from a minimum bet per spin of $/£/€0.75 up to a maximum bet per spin of $/£/€225.00.
The volatility of this game is medium, which makes it a poor fit for our favorite slot machine methods, which we will discuss below. Our slot techniques are designed to generate the greatest amount of volatility possible, therefore we’d really want to see greater swings from this game.
Elephant King doesn’t give the greatest initial impression, thanks to a clumsy graphic style that only succeeds when seen on a large screen. This is somewhat offset by the animations and music, but they are not sufficient to make a lasting impression.
The average RTP and mild volatility aren’t awful, but don’t get us thrilled. And while the Prize Disc is a great innovation, ultimately the gameplay is a little plain.
This slot machine could be a good fit for certain players, but we don’t have a strong recommendation for it on the whole.
