Review of the Hot Shot Progressive

Theme and plot of the story

Hot Shot Progressive is an effort to modernize the original fruit machine concept for the current five reel slot market, with a focus on the progressive jackpot. If you think this is a completely pointless effort, you are already one step ahead of Microgaming’s marketing department, who approved this dull theme without the one characteristic that makes it stand out, namely, old school simplicity.

Graphics, sounds, and animations are all included.

On the surface of the game, the flaws made by Hot Shot Progressive are readily apparent. The visuals are, at the very least, uninteresting and, at the very worst, gaudy.

In this slot, the reel animations are very sluggish, and since there is no rapid spin option, you are forced to suffer through an extremely boring and lengthy animation. You will then be subjected to a lengthy second round of unskippable images if you are the winner.

On top of that, the sound effects are eerily lacking in quality. Several of the sounds seem to have been cut off only a fraction of a second before they were to be completed, and none of them work together. It’s a cacophony of electronic nonsense, to put it mildly.

Gameplay

The gameplay in the basic game is the one area where there is a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dreadful mess. There is the standard five-by-three-reel layout with 40 winlines, but in lieu of bonus games, there is a sequence of Scatter symbols (see below for more information), one of which appears on each reel and is unique.

This adds a little bit of much-needed individuality to the game’s gameplay.

Wilds, bonuses, and free spins are all included in this game.

In the Hot Shot Progressive slot, there are no wild symbols. However, there are a variety of Scatters.

Each reel has an unique Scatter symbol, which appears as a three-by-three reel slot machine inside the symbol when it falls on the reels. If three or more Scatters appear on the screen, one spin on each of these little slot machines is triggered.

All of the Scatter slots, with the exception of the Diamond 7s bonus, feature just a single pay line, unless otherwise stated.

Blazing Sevens is the name of the Scatter slot on Reel One, and it is a straightforward spin and win game.

The Diamond line slot is found on reel two, and it is identical to the other slots except that it offers three win lines instead of one.

Bet sizes, return on investment (RTI), and variance

This game has a return to player percentage of 96.04 percent. When compared to the standard we employ for the industry, this is neither excellent nor terrible at all.

There was an unusually small range of wagers available on the site we reviewed, with a minimum stake each spin of $0.40 ($/£/€0.40), which is a bit steep for the lowest rollers out there. The highest bet per spin, on the other hand, was $/£/€24.00, which will leave any big rollers out there feeling disappointed. While the vast majority of middle-stakes players will be pleased with this game, those on the periphery of the bell curve will be disappointed.

The volatility of this game is on the lower end of the medium scale. This is a little too low to work well with our slot machine strategies.

Conclusion

Hot Shot Progressive is a dreadful slot machine. It is unsightly to look at, painful to play, and does not provide a high enough return to player or volatility to compensate for its many drawbacks.

Although it does have one redeeming feature in the form of its revolutionary Scatters that allow you to play a game inside a game, it is much preferable to explore elsewhere for your slot-related demands.
