Review of Mega Moolah

Theme and plot of the story

Mega Moolah is a jackpot-based game whose subject seems to have been picked totally at random by the game’s designers. Although the title suggests gangsters and language from the United States, the theme is really a non-copyright infringing adaptation of Disney’s The Lion King film.

Rafiki-like characters have even been created that have been represented in a manner that makes them even more racially problematic than the original characters.

The ten to jack emblems, as well as gurning giraffes, buffaloes, lions and other large animals are all there, as is the wise old monkey wearing a Masaii headdress.

Graphics, sounds, and animations are all included.

Despite the lack of originality shown by the concept, the graphics for the reels is well-drawn and detailed. The whole slot is designed in a cheeky cartoonish manner, which is entertaining.

Background savanna sounds provide an outdoor mood, and when you press the spin button, a music that looks to be a knock-off of Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s track with added panpipes comes on.

It doesn’t break any new ground, but it does the job more or less well.

Gameplay

Although Mega Moolah seems to be a simple five-reel, twenty-five-payline slot with the bare minimum of features (wilds and free spins, see below for more information), the randomly triggered jackpot game is the true attraction of this game.

During this game, a wheel appears on the screen, which you must spin in order to win one of four jackpots.

The jackpots grow as you play, and your contributions are tallied (this in part accounts for the insanely low Return to Player, see below for details on that). There are many progressive jackpots available, the most significant of which is the Mega Jackpot, which resets to 1, 000, 000 coins after a win and was currently at 3.8 million coins.

Each of the other three prizes is a factor of one or two less than the previous jackpot. The Major jackpot is always at least 10, 000 coins in value, the Minor jackpot is always at least 100 coins in value, and the Mini jackpot is never less than ten cents in value.

Wilds, bonuses, and free spins are all included in this game.

Mega Moolah contains all of the normal features that you’d expect to see on a slot machine of this caliber.

It features a Wild sign that may substitute for any other symbol except the Bonus symbol, and it pays out rather nicely if you manage to land it on a winning payline (15 times your bet per line for two in a row, up to 15, 000 times your bet per line for five in a row).

If you win with a Wild symbol, your winnings are multiplied by two.

The Bonus symbol pays out as a scatter – 2 times your bet per spin for two symbols up to 100 times your bet per line for five symbols. In addition, hitting three or more of them will activate fifteen free spins, at which time a three-fold multiplier will be added to all of your winnings.

Bet sizes, return on investment (RTI), and variance

When it comes to Mega Moolah, the return to player is just 88.12 percent. This looks to be a terrible deal, but it makes more sense when you consider the size of the jackpots for which you are paying an 8.80 percent commission.

There are no official figures available, however some sources estimate that the return on investment (RTI) is between 96 percent and 97 percent when the jackpot fees are taken into account. These may not always be relied upon since the publisher does not provide a clear indication of how the jackpot influences the return to player (RTP).

Bets ranged from £/$/€0.25 per spin to a maximum of £/$/€250 per spin on the site we tested.

Because of the amount of the vig and the possibility of a large jackpot, this game has the potential to have very high volatility, while the regular game has medium to low volatility.

Conclusion

The jackpots on Mega Moolah are the game’s most compelling feature, since they provide the opportunity for life-changing winnings in a manner that most other slots do not. It holds the world record for the largest jackpot payout and, as a result, should be treated more like a lottery than a slot machine. As a standard slot machine, however, it is expensive to play, not particularly attractive to look at, and has almost no good features to make up for these disadvantages, so it is best avoided.

We do not advocate this game as a slot machine, but if you approach it correctly, it may provide you with an opportunity to win some of the largest jackpots available in online gaming.
